Mario Vargas Llosa

Mario Vargas Llosa nasceu no Peru, em março de 1936. O seu afastamento em relação ao regime de Havana (que visitara pela primeira vez em 1965) irá marcar toda a sua biografia política e literária a partir de 1971. Em Lima pode, finalmente, dedicar-se em exclusivo à literatura e ao jornalismo, o que o levou, em 1990, a aceitar candidatar-se à presidência – depois disso fixou-se em Londres e, mais recentemente, entre Paris e Madrid. Entre os muitos prémios que recebeu contam-se o Rómulo Gallegos (1967), o Príncipe das Astúrias (1986) ou o Cervantes (1994). Foi distinguido com o Prémio Nobel da Literatura em 2010.
