I asked the various national delegates of the conservation body TICCIH if there was a gunpowder factory similar to the one in Seixal in their countries and none of them knew of the existence of such. I am convinced that this site in Portugal is a unique structure at the global level and is so important in terms of heritage that its value should be made known to all and indeed it should be granted World Heritage site status.
